Nyaung Ohak Shwe Indein

Archeological fans take a hike to this remote jungle site and be amazed. Dated back to the 9th century over 100 temples and pagoda lay waiting to be restored far from the normal tourist trails in South East Asia. The buildings range from multistory temples to simple minuture pagoda built of gray bricks to glorious red sandstone edifices slowly aging as the jungle swallow more of the buildings. There are no formal tours or hikes to this place only mostly local people to guide visitors who make the trek by car and boat.
