After an overnight bus ride from Rangoon I arrived in the town of Nyaung-U which is near Bagan. At four in the morning air was chilly and smokey from small roadside rubbish and wood fires as people tried to stay warm. This elderly woman huddled around a small fire wrapped in a blanket at her snack shop. My watercolor painting is done primarily as an exercise to loosen up and explore subjects for painting on canvas.
